Recently, I read Exodus 3 as part of my YouVersion’s Bible reading plan. In this chapter, the story of Moses and the Burning Bush is found. I’ve read this before and heard sermons about this story countless times, but for some reason this time I saw it differently.

If you don’t know the story you can read it here, but is basically the story of God telling Moses to go and set free the Israelites (God’s people) from slavery. The only problem is Moses makes up all these excuses of why he can’t go and be used. Finally, after many reassurances by God, Moses is convinced to go and ultimately leads the Israelites out of Egypt with God’s help.

So what is the new perspective I saw this time? God’s constant reassurances to Moses that He will be with Him, guiding Him through the rescue and freeing of the Israelites. In fact, God basically tells Moses how the whole story is going to play out.

Taking a step of faith is scary sometimes. You don’t know exactly what is involved or what’s ahead. But I have found that whenever God calls you to take a step of faith, that next step, He provides and He gives us signs of reassurances along the way. It probably won’t be easy-it wasn’t for Moses-either, but God does provide and will bring you through it.

How do I take that next step?

First, be on the look out for God speaking in your life. It probably won’t be a burning bush that gets your attention, but there will be something that gets your attention. Who could have imagined that a major moment in the history of Israel would begin because God spoke through a burning bush?

Secondly, don’t be afraid to take that next step of faith in your life. It may seem scary and it will probably be difficult, but if God is calling you to it, He will be with you through each step.

Finally, what is God calling you to next?  And what’s preventing you from taking that step?
