Well known Christian singer, Jeremy Camp, has a great song called “I Still Believe”. If you have never heard it before, I would encourage you to watch the lyric video at the bottom of this post before you continue any further.

In the chorus he repeats this phrase:

“I still believe in Your faithfulness
I still believe in Your truth
I still believe in Your holy word
Even when I don’t see, I still believe”

I listened to this song a lot when I was going through my separation and ultimately, my divorce. The reason why I listened to it so much was that constant reminder of no matter what I was going through in life, I still do believe in God’s faithfulness, I still believe in his truth, and I still believe in what is said in the Bible.

Over time, I’ve discovered that when tough times come about, there can be a tendency to question everything. And while that was the case in my situation, the one thing I never questioned was God’s faithfulness and God’s truth. I think this was  because I knew that what I was going through was not God’s plan. And I believe that God does take care of us and when we honestly in earnestly seek Him. I believe He will provide us a path to  get us out of those tough times.

Some verses that stand out to me regarding this are:
  • Psalm 63:8, “My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.”
  • Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
  • Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
  • Psalm 9:9, “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”

The Lord is with us always. The question for you is this: Will you still have faith, and trust that God is with you and will pull you out of whatever you are going through? In moments of struggle, or when situations seem bleak, I hope and pray that you reflect on who God is, how faithful He has always been (the Bible is filled with examples) and how His desire is to bring you through any and all life circumstances.

I know that no matter what, I still believe. He has come through for me and I know that as we put our faith and trust in God, He will guide us.

If you have a verse or two that has encouraged you and strengthened your faith, even in the toughest moments, share them below.
