Restore LogoLast Sunday (June 30), one of our Life Groups took a road trip up to Silver Spring, MD to serve at Restore Christian Church.  New Life helped plant Restore just last fall and they meet on Sunday mornings at The Fillmore in downtown Silver Spring.  For some cool background, check out last year’s blog announcing Restore’s launch.

Fillmore

Church planting is hard but very rewarding work.  New church plants don’t have the volunteer resources that larger churches have and sometimes a well-deserved break is in order.  Enter New Life’s Mile Marker Zero (MMZ) Life Group.  Nine folks from MMZ took over Restore’s KidCITY so their hard working children’s ministry volunteers could take a little summer break or actually attend Restore’s worship service knowing KidCITY was well taken care of.  Our MMZ team had a blast meeting parents and checking in kids, playing with babies/toddlers, singing songs, doing crafts, and teaching the story of Lazarus to the school age kids.  Our team even had time to help pack up Restore’s “Church in a Box” after the morning activities concluded at The Fillmore.

LunchSo, it was a great day for our MMZ Life Group to serve God and His people at Restore Christian Church which they capped off with a fun brunch at McGinty’s Public House in downtown Sliver Spring.

Please remember to pray for Restore’s Lead Pastor Aaron Thomas and his wife Karrie and for the people of Silver Spring, MD!  Also, check out the latest happenings at Restore on Facebook and send a note of prayer and encouragement their way.  And, most importantly, if your Life Group would like to take a “road trip” and support one of our local church plants, please for more information.
