It has been great reading the Wise Up Challenge we are doing at New Life during the month of July. I have seen some really great and practical encouragement in how to live our lives with Godly wisdom.

As we have been doing this Challenge, the Uprising (New Life’s 6th – 8th grade ministry) has been walking through some of the Proverbs each Sunday. During each time together the students walk through a different chapter and then are asked the question, “What stands out to you?” This question encourages them to think about what verse or verses made them pause and reflect longer than the others ones as they read the passage. Then they are encouraged to share it with us and we talk about it.

So far this has been an awesome experience where we have talked about some great passages. Here are a few we discussed:

  • Proverbs 1:7 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
        but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
  • Proverbs 1:32-33 – “For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
        and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
       but whoever listens to me will live in safety
        and be at ease, without fear of harm”
  • Proverbs 3:3 – “Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
        bind them around your neck,
        write them on the tablet of your heart.”
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
        and lean not on your own understanding;
      in all your ways submit to him,
        and he will make your paths straight”
  • Proverbs 3:35 – “The wise inherit honor,
        but fools get only shame.”

We have had some great discussions about on these verses and we look forward to the next few weeks as we continue to process Proverbs together.

So, what are you learning from Proverbs? What verse or verses are causing you to think a little more? Share your thoughts below or get onto the Online Facebook Group and share your experiences each day.
