UnknownLast weekend we had a great opportunity to watch and then hear more about the movie Unbroken:  a powerful story of Louie Zamperini and his WWII prisoner of war experience.

Brett used the movie as a springboard to talk about overcoming adversity. If you missed the message you can catch one of the rebroadcasts or watch it below.

The Bible has a variety of people who faced adversity in their lives as well.  Paul is a great example of how to respond in the midst of those tough times. Take a few minutes and read the passages below about Paul, his situations, and how he handled them.

Questions to Ponder:

  1. Paul had an amazingly positive attitude when he faced adversity.  Why do you think that was the case?
  2. Why should we rejoice when we suffer?  What “good” does suffering produce?
  3. How are we more than conquerers through Christ?
  4. How can these passages encourage you when you encounter hardships?

The reality is that we are bound to face a hardship or a difficult season in our lives at one time or another.  It is how we choose to handle those hard times that will make the difference between whether or not we remain “unbroken.”

How has God helped you overcome adversity before?  Share your stories or questions below so we can encourage each other.
