Every year millions of people resolve to make changes in their personal or professional life. As passionate and sincere as we all are in making those changes in our lives, the reality is that many of us fail to fulfill those resolutions. In fact one research firm shows that only 8% of all resolutions actually succeed.

But even though they are hard to accomplish it is always good to resolve to improve and get better.  And, in light of our recent “Unique” series on “What’s so special about Christmas”, maybe it is time for us to resolve to get to know Jesus better this year.

If Christ was truly born of a virgin, changed the world through humility, his birth impacting the whole world and came to seek us even though we rejected him, isn’t it time that we really put Him to the test and see how Christ can impact and change our life?

We spend so much of our life trying to resolve to get better in different areas of our lives…important areas.  But what about striving to get to know Christ better?  How will you plan on doing that this year?

There are a variety of things you can do this year. Maybe its choosing…

  • to spend time daily reading the Bible
  • to be praying regularly
  • to tithe and give sacrificially of  your finances
  • to join a Home Group
  • to be baptized
  • to share your faith with a few people this year
  • to go on a mission trip

Regardless of what it is, as long as we seek God with our whole heart, the Bible is clear that we will find Him.

Jeremiah 29:13“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart”

Deuteronomy 4:29“But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

So this year, as you resolve to make improvements in your life, also seek to take a next step in your faith and get to know Jesus better.
