Expect to encounter God:
We help people discover the life they’ve always longed for by creating safe places where people can ask questions about God and find answers to life’s deepest questions. Below is our FAQ so you can plan your visit and know what to expect. But if you are ADD like us, this video will distract you just long enough for you to realize you definitely want to come check us out this Sunday.
Plan Your Visit:
WHERE DO I GO?
New Life is one church that meets in three locations. We meet in Chantilly at the nZone, in Bristow at Piney Branch ES and online. Click here for the specific locations.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
You are welcome at New Life just as you are. You will see jeans and t-shirts, dresses/coats and ties, and everything in between. We believe that it’s the attitude of your heart that matters to God, rather than your physical appearance.
WHEN DO I ARRIVE?
We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the service you are attending so you can park, grab some coffee, and find a seat. Leave a little more time if you need to check in kids into the Children’s Ministry. We have a special team of volunteers ready to show you around and help you get settled. Just look for the tent near the entrance and our friendly greeters will help you get to where you are going.
WILL I BE CALLED OUT AS NEW?
Absolutely not! You won’t be put on the spot. You won’t have to wear a name badge or be singled out in any way. You don’t even have to sing along if you don’t feel comfortable. You won’t be expected to give any money. We want you to relax and be comfortable. We’re here to help when you need us.
HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
Our services typically run about an hour and fifteen minutes. But don’t worry, time flies when you are having fun.
WHAT IS A SERVICE LIKE?
Each service begins with a live band playing energetic and inspiring music that is meant to be engaging and heartfelt, while seeking to focus our minds and hearts on God. The auditorium setting is contemporary with creative multi-media elements designed to make it easy to follow along and conducive for you to participate during each song. You will then hear a message based on the Bible. The heart of our church is to help people hear and follow Jesus. It is our hope and goal that the message will encourage and challenge you to do just that. You can watch our most recent service here.
WHERE DO I SIT?
You can sit wherever you feel comfortable in our auditorium, there are no saved seats. And don’t worry, you can take your coffee and/or any goodies you picked up from our hospitality table with you. You don’t have to sit alone either. Pretty much anyone would be happy to sit with you, especially the people who greet you at the tent as you arrive, just tell them you want a “seat buddy” and they’ll gladly come in and join you. Oh… and if you watch online, feel free to sit wherever you want. We recommend somewhere in reach of your favorite hot beverage.
DO I NEED TO BRING A BIBLE?
You don’t have to bring a Bible unless you want to. All of the Bible verses will be projected on the screen. We also have free bibles available for you to keep on the table as you go into the auditorium. Our teaching pastors typically teach from the Christian Standard Bible but you’ll be able to follow along no matter what version you have or are comfortable with.
WHAT WILL MY CHILDREN DO DURING THE SERVICE?
Children are important to us! While you attend the service, the kids (those in 5th grade and under) will be in special programs designed just for them with caring teachers who want to show them Jesus’ love. Students in 6th through 8th Grade typically sit in the back of the service and then leave after the music for their teaching. High School students stay in the main service. All 6-12th graders are invited to meet up with other students at the Student Ministry table. Any volunteer can point you to the right place but it should be pretty easy to spot as you come in.
WHAT IF I WANT TO VOLUNTEER?
Getting connecting through serving is a great way to get started. Meaningful friendships are often built when we serve as we meet new people and get to experience what it is like to cooperate with God and His plan. Learn about volunteering here.
I’M STILL NERVOUS:
Please don’t be. You can expect a place that accepts you just the way you are right now regardless of who you are or what you believe. If you would like someone meet you out front, show your around, and stay with you as long as you’d like to answer questions, let us know.
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS. WHAT NOW?
For more information about New Life, call us at 703-222-8836 or and we will get back to you ASAP!
Finally, we do some simple rules we ask every one to observe:
- No perfect people allowed! If you got it together, you’re at the WRONG place.
- No making out in the back row! Unless you’ve reached your silver anniversary, then all bets are off.
- Relax! We don’t bite and you’ll have more fun.
- Laugh! We think we are funny, you may disagree. Regardless, doctors say laughter is healthy for you.
What’s the bottom line? New Life is a fun place, a place where you can ask questions, a place where you can discover truth, a place where you can find connections, a place for people looking for meaning in life.
Often new people wonder what the sermons are like at New Life. We podcast and post our sermons weekly. But rather than let you randomly pick one, here’s a good one to get a good idea about who we are and what we teach.
