Be Thankful for God’s Unchanging Love and Faithfulness
November 3, 2025
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1 (CSB)
Forever is a word we throw around casually, but we rarely experience it. Relationships end. Jobs change. Health fades. Even the most stable things in our lives eventually shift. But tucked into this simple verse is a truth that can anchor your life. It’s that God’s faithfulness and love endures forever.
The Goodness We Can Count On
The psalmist starts Psalm 107:1 with a declaration. He says, “the Lord is good.” He doesn’t say, “the Lord feels good sometimes” or “the Lord seems good when things go well.” He says the Lord IS good. It’s His nature, His character, His essence. This goodness isn’t dependent on our circumstances or our feelings about those circumstances.
When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, God’s goodness provided manna. When they rebelled, His goodness offered redemption. “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love” (Psalm 145:8, CSB). His goodness doesn’t fluctuate with our faithfulness.
Love That Outlasts Everything
The Hebrew word for “faithful love” is chesed. It means a covenant love that commits and doesn’t quit. This isn’t the emotional rush of new romance that fades when difficulties come. This is the relentless, pursuing, never-giving-up love of a God who knows everything about you and chooses you anyway.
Paul understood this when he wrote, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39, CSB).
Nothing can separate you from it. Not your worst failure. Not your deepest shame. Not your current crisis. God’s faithful love endures beyond every obstacle we can imagine.
Conclusion
The psalmist’s called us to “Give thanks.” When we truly grasp the enduring nature of God’s faithful love, thanksgiving becomes our natural response. Not because everything is perfect, but because Someone perfect loves us through everything.
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name” (Psalm 100:4, CSB). Gratitude isn’t denial of our struggles—it’s recognition of who holds us through them.
Today, whatever you’re facing, this truth remains: His faithful love endures forever. That is a lifeline that we can be thankful for and share to others today.
