Redemption is possible through Christ! Over the next few weeks we are looking at different redemption stories found in the Bible and also looking at Jesus’ road the cross. In this week’s readings and devotionals 3 themes stood out.

We All Need Redemption

Adam and EveIn Genesis 3 we see that while the world was laid out for Adam and Eve to be in charge of. But, they turned their back on God and sin entered the world. However, they weren’t the only ones who sinned. As we see in these devotionals, we have all fallen short of God’s glory and there is nothing we can do to earn redemption. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death. We’ve earned death for turning our backs on God. But, the gift of God is eternal life through Christ.

God can Bring Good from a Bad Situation

As hard as it may seem to be, God can make a bad situation and bring good from it. He did it with the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-50 as we saw in our last devotional series here. And now he is doing that in Jacob’s life. See how in Jacob’s redemption story found in this devotional.

Jesus is our Redeemer

In Genesis 22, Abraham’s faith is tested when God asks him to sacrifice his only son, Issac. Right before Abraham went through with it, God stopped him and provided him a lamb to sacrifice instead. This is symbolism of Jesus being provided as a lamb offering for our sin. As this is shared in this devotional, Jesus is our redeemer.
