Share the Hope of Jesus this Christmas
December 22, 2025
“But the angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today in the City of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped tightly in cloth and lying in a manger.'”
— Luke 2:10-12 (CSB)
In Luke 2:10-12 we see the angel appear before the Shepherds sharing good news of great joy! Take notice of what the angel says. He said “good news of great joy.” This is not moderately interesting news or private spiritual information for the religious elite. This is good news—the kind you can’t help but share—and it’s for “all the people,” not just a select few.
If you discovered a restaurant with great food and environment, do you keep it to yourself? Or do you tell your friends? You tell your friends! If you found a solution to a problem everyone struggles with, you’d share it freely, right? You would want people to know. The message of hope found in Jesus is infinitely better than any of these. It’s the announcement that God Himself has entered our broken world to rescue us. So why do we hesitate to share it?
Share the Hope
Often, we’re afraid of being pushy or awkward. We don’t want to be “that person” who forces religion on others. But here’s the difference: sharing the hope of good news isn’t imposition. It’s an invitation. You’re not pressuring anyone—you’re simply saying, “I’ve found something wonderful, and I’d love for you to experience it too.” After all, we all need hope.
And there is no better time to share the hope of Jesus than at Christmas. It provides the perfect opportunity for this kind of generous sharing. The season naturally opens conversations about faith, hope, and what really matters. People who wouldn’t normally consider church often feel drawn to Christmas Eve services because of the music, the candlelight, and the sense of warmth and tradition. Your invitation might be exactly what they’ve been hoping for but were too hesitant to pursue on their own.
Practical Ways to Share the Hope of Jesus
Invite your neighbors, coworkers, or friends to Christmas Eve service. Make it personal: “We’re going to Church on Christmas Eve, and I’d love for you to join us. It’s always a great service on Christmas Eve!” Offer to save them a seat or meet them in the parking lot so they don’t have to walk in alone.
Share your story naturally. When someone asks about your holiday plans, mention what Christmas means to you. You don’t need a perfect testimony—just some authenticity. You could say something like, “Christmas reminds me that God loves us enough to come close. That’s meant everything to me.”
Use social media. An easy way to share the hope of Christmas is to post about Christmas events, the Christmas Eve services, or even some Bible verses that center around Jesus’ birth. You could say something like, “Can’t wait for our Christmas Eve service—it’s my favorite night of the year. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate, you’re welcome to join me!”
Conclusion
As you look for opportunities to share the hope this Christmas, remember that you’re not responsible for how people respond. That’s between them and God. You’re simply responsible for generously offering what’s been given to you: the good news of great joy, meant for all people. This Christmas, be courageously kind. Extend invitations freely. You never know whose life might be transformed because you were willing to share the best news ever told.
