upgradeIt happens every year. Whether you are an iPhone or Android user, you get a chance to upgrade your phone to the latest and greatest operating system. This past week Apple released iOS 11, and it packs a punch allowing you to use your phone better in a variety of ways.

Well, just like our phones, it is always great for us to evaluate and upgrade our lives in some way. After all, we can all upgrade ourselves in some way.

How can you upgrade your life?

  • Start spending time with Christ. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” In this verse Jesus talks about providing for us, but this can also apply to us starting our day with the right mindset and mentality. When we seek God first during the day, He can reveal things in our lives where we need His wisdom and discernment. In fact, in James 1:5 it says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” God wants to guide you, direct you, and help you “upgrade”. All we have to do is ask Him and spend time daily with Him.
  • Invest in your friends and family. As a minister I know that I have the opportunity to impact many people for Christ through my job. However, I am also a son, a dad, and a friend; and I know that my legacy are those closest to me. Therefore, if I want to upgrade my life, I need to invest in my friends and family better. I need to take specific time, slow down, and make sure that I am doing things with them, caring for them and helping them (in particular my children) grow as a follower of Christ.
  • Invest in yourself. Get out of the regular daily routine and learn something new. I know time is not always our best ally, but we do make time for things that are most important to us. And, if we want to upgrade our lives, we need to make time for it. So figure out what excites you and start learning something new. It is never too late to learn something new. Grab a book, take a class

There are plenty of other ways that you can upgrade your life and improve. The bottom line is that is all starts with you.

So how are you going to upgrade your life? Share it with us below! We’d love to encourage you as you seek to grow.
