Women of Purpose: Be the Light Women’s Conference is designed to encourage and empower women to live confidently in their God-given calling. The theme of this conference is rooted in Matthew 5:14-16 which says, “You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lamp stand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
This gathering invites women to reignite their identity in Christ and learn how to shine His light where they work, live and play. This day will be filled with incredible worship led by Brittney Blount, opportunities to be in community with other women, workshops that will encourage you to draw near to the Lord, and an amazing message from our keynote speaker: Lisa Jones.
Lisa is a speaker, writer, and community pastor with BLOC Ministries — an inner city mission to the forgotten and marginalized in Cincinnati Ohio.
Lisa and her husband, Tim Jones, (minister, inspirational speaker, artist, and comedian) moved from Washington DC suburbs to the Price Hill area of Cincinnati 12 years ago to live among the generationally poor. Lisa’s main focus with BLOC is Founder and Director of Girls Wanted, an outreach group of at-risk girls ages 12-18.
The mission of Girls Wanted is to connect girls with each other, female role models, and God, in an effort to keep these young girls off the streets out of jail. Lisa also worked with BLOC’s jail ministry to encourage and study the Bible with women trapped in addiction and prostitution. BLOC Ministries strives to positively impact the lives of girls’ and boys’, men and women, from prevention to redemption.
Lisa has been an inspirational speaker up and down the East Coast, as well as internationally, for the past 30+ years. Lisa is fresh and transparent. You’ll enjoy her vulnerable and disarming personality, as well as her love for, and insight into, the Word of God.
Lisa has survived cancer, the journey of her prodigal children — with all that entails — and, so far, 44 years of marriage. Her life is an open book, and when she speaks, she holds nothing back. We are honored to welcome her back to New Life!
Hey, I’m Brittney! I’ve been married 5 years to my amazing hunk of a husband, Jeremiah. We have a beautiful, sassy 3 year old girl named Dylan. After spending years of my life trying to find validation through people, I realized the real validation is in how God feels about me. In spite of my mess, He cherishes the time we spend together. And then He gifted me with allowing others to experience the time we have together through leading worship. Not only was it healing for me, but it also allowed others to acknowledge their vulnerabilities and Christ sacrificial love AT THE SAME TIME. So I’m not really called to lead worship in my mind. I’m called to spread His love… just happens to be through song!
