Proverbs 28:5 CSB –  The evil do not understand justice,
but those who seek the Lord understand everything

Psalm 85:10 CSB – Faithful love and truth will join together;

Luke 19:42 CSB – Jesus knelt beside his city and wept, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes”

Understanding Justice

Matthew 25:31 CSB – “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne

Matthew 25:32a CSB – All the nations will be gathered before him

Matthew 25:32b – 33 CSB – … and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:34-40 CSB – Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

35 “‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me.’

37, “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you?’

40 “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Where Does Justice Come From?

Luke 13:1-2 CSB – At that time, some people came and reported to him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. And he responded to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered these things?

Isaiah 55:8-9 CSB – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not my ways.”
This is the Lord’s declaration.
“For as heaven is higher than earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 3:22,26 CSB – The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe….

God presented him [Jesus] to demonstrate his righteousness [justice] at the present time, so that he would be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.

John 14:31 CSB – Jesus said, …, I do as the Father commanded me.

John 10:27 CSB – My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.

Proverbs 21:15 CSB – Justice executed is a joy to the righteous but a terror to evildoers.

Pursue Justice – Love Mercy

Micah 6:8 CSB –   Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God
.

James 2:13 CSB – For judgment is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
