Courage Comes from God’s Mission

Mark 1:14, 15 CSB – After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God; ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!’

Acts 1:7, 8 CSB – He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Courage Comes from God’s People

Mark 2:14, 15 CSB – Then, passing by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, ‘Follow Me,’ and he got up and followed Him. While He was reclining at the table in Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Jesus and His disciples, for there were many who were following Him.

Acts 2:46 CSB – Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts.

Matthew 26:37, 38 CSB – Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and troubled. He said to them, ‘I am deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with Me.’

Matthew 26:40 CSB – So, couldn’t you stay awake with me one hour?

Courage Comes from God’s Presence

Luke 6:12-13, 16 CSB – During those days He went out to the mountain to pray and spent all night in prayer to God. When daylight came, he summoned His disciples, and He chose twelve of them, whom He also name apostles…and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Matthew 26:39 CSB – Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.’
