‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭18:7-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬ – “And the women sang to one another as they celebrated, “Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands.” And Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him. He said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed thousands, and what more can he have but the kingdom?” And Saul eyed David from that day on. The next day a harmful spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand.”

Genesis‬ ‭4:6-7‬ NIV – “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.’”

1 Peter 5:8 NIV – “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Social media didn’t invent comparison. It only accelerated it.

At the root of comparison is the belief that you’re not getting what you deserve and someone else is.

Confident in who you are, and comfortable with who you’re not.

You would lock your doors.

You would call 911.

You would quickly tell your friends and family.

You would cry for help.

You would defend your home.

You might even simply run away.

You wouldn’t invite him in.

You wouldn’t let him in as long as he didn’t cause too much trouble.

You wouldn’t just accept that everyone gets robbed at some point, so you might as well accept your fate.
