Part 1: Foundations
The goal of today is to dig deep into our faith.
What is the foundation of your life?
Matthew 7:24-27 (CSB)
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”
James 1:22-25 (CSB)
But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works — this person will be blessed in what he does.
Part 2: The Storm
What is a storm? The ‘storm’ represents inevitable events that reveal the truth about our relationship with God.
Our faith will be tested in this lifetime.
John 16:33: “You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
========================================
Following God’s will is not achieved by merely hearing His words, but by putting them into action.
What is God telling you to do that you are not doing?
What is your foundation?
How do we change our foundation?
