Worship (Linton Hall Sermon)

Hebrews 10:19-25 CSB - Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus  20 he has inaugurated for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh) 21 and since we have a great high priest over the house of God22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.23 Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.

Worship honors Jesus and strengthens our faith.

Colossians 3:16 CSB - Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Ephesians 5:19 CSB - speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord

Psalm 33:1-3 NIV - Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

Psalm 47:1 CSB - Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a jubilant cry.

Psalm 134:2 CSB - Lift up your hands in the holy place and bless the LORD!

Romans 1:25 CSB - They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.

Isaiah 44:9 ESV - All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame.

1 Corinthians 14:23-25 CSB - If, therefore, the whole church assembles together and all are speaking in tongues and people who are outsiders or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?24 But if all are prophesying and some unbeliever or outsider comes in, he is convicted by all and is called to account by all.25 The secrets of his heart will be revealed, and as a result he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is really among you.”
