What We Believe

Our Beliefs Define What We Stand For

About God

WE BELIEVE God is the Creator, Sovereign over creation. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Jesus Christ

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ is the Son of God, equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead in bodily form on the third day, demonstrating His power over sin and death. After appearing to many, He ascended intoHeaven. Now, Christians await His return when He will take us to be with Him.

Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5, 14:1-3, 10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:1

About the Holy Spirit

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in everyChristian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:1; Galatians 5:25

About the Bible

WE BELIEVE the Bible is Godโ€™s Word. Through the Bible God reveals Himself โ€“ His character and His will โ€“ to human beings. Penned by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is truth and without error in what it intends to say. As such, the Bible is the supreme source of truth for what Christians believe and how we live. When properly understood and practiced, the Bible defines love and leads us to love God and people.

Psalm 12:6, 105, 119, 160; Proverbs 30:52; Matthew 22:37-40; Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

About Mankind and Sin

WE BELIEVE human beings are made in the image of God (e.g. spiritually, volitionally and emotionally). As image-bearers of God, every person matters to God. We are Godโ€™s supreme purpose for creation. Yet, because of Adamโ€™s sin, we are a fallen people. Human beings will always be bent toward fighting God. Sin separates mankind from God. Therefore, everyone needs a supernatural Savior.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Isaiah 59:1-2; John 3:16; Romans 3:23ย

About Heaven and Hell

WE BELIEVE that Heaven and Hell are real. Our deepest longings are to live in Heaven, the home of righteousness where everything is perfect. Heaven and Hell are not just places where people go after they die, they are choices humans make every day. To choose Heaven is to choose to walk with Jesus fully. To choose Hell is to choose to live independently from Jesus. Hell is eternal destination for all who would prefer to live as kings in their own country rather than as servants in the house of God.

Psalm 84:10; Matthew 25:31-46; John 2:25, 3:16, 5:11-13, 14:1-3, 17:3; Romans 6:23; 2 Peter 3; 1 John 5:11-12; Revelation 20:15

About Salvation

WE BELIEVE salvation is a gift from God. Human beings can never put God in our debt so that He owes us salvation. Therefore, we are saved by grace through faith because Jesus paid sinโ€™s penalty on the cross.

Psalm 84:10; Matthew 25:31-46; John 2:25, 3:16, 5:11-13, 14:1-3, 17:3; Romans 6:23; 2 Peter 3; 1 John 5:11-12; Revelation 20:15

About Baptism

WE BELIEVE baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is the public declaration that one has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism was commanded by Jesus and practiced by the New Testament church. Biblically, whenever someone believed and repented, they were baptized.

Matthew 3:16, 28:19-20; Mark 16:16; John 3:23; Colossians 2:12; Acts 8:36, 9:18, 16:13-15; Ephesians 4:4-6

About Gender and Marriage

WE BELIEVE God created humans male and female and both equally reflect His nature and character. We believe God created and designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. We believe marriage matters because it reflects Godโ€™s relationship to His people. We believe sexual activity is a God-given gift, beautiful in the bonds of marriage. We believe sexual activity outside the bounds of Biblical marriage (including same-sex unions) is an affront to God and damaging to people. We believe the unrighteousness will not inherit the kingdom of God, but can be washed, sanctified and justified when they repent and surrender to Jesus.
