girl prayingI Didn’t Want Positive Thoughts…

My family lost a Daughter, Mom, Aunt and friend this week to the flu.

Here we are in the 2014, and people still die from the flu. It has hit

us all very hard. Last week, when things were looking bleak, I wanted

to get the word out, my friend needed prayer. She was at a point where

only a miracle would make a difference. I wanted to ask for prayer. I

needed to ask for prayer.

And I hesitated.

Why?

Because people don’t ask for prayer on Facebook, they ask for

“positive thoughts,” and “prayers, ‘if you are a praying person.'”

Mindy (and the rest of the family) didn’t need positive thoughts and

positive energy, we needed God. God’s healing. God’s care. God’s

comfort. We needed Hebrews 4:16, “Come boldly…” prayer. We needed James 4:2b

“You have not because you ask not” prayer, and James 5:14, “if any are

sick among you” prayer. When she died, we need Psalms 23 prayer. We

needed Matthew 5:4 comfort.

I wanted prayer. I needed prayer. I asked for prayer.

I feel braver now.

And I know, I know, that we were and are being, prayed for. And for

that we are thankful.
