Interstellar Devotional

November 10, 2015

Unknown-3We are 4 movies into our New Life: At the Movies series. If you missed any part of it, you can find the other movie messages here, watch the latest below, or during one of the rebroadcasts throughout the week.

Patrick Dennis shared a message using the movie Interstellar as a launching point to help us understand John 14:1-3, a passage in the Bible.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

Questions to Ponder:

  1. Why was Jesus telling his friends “let not your hearts be troubled” (hint: you may have to look at John 13 for some clues)?
  2. What place was Jesus talking about that had many rooms?
  3. What does he promise his friends about the many rooms in his house?
  4. How can we get to that house?

As Patrick closed his message he said that if we really believe God’s promises, it should translate to how we live.  In fact, you can read more about this in James 2:14-26.

How can knowing that Jesus will come back change the way you live your life today? Share your thoughts below.
