One Way to Put Love into Action

love in action

Throughout the Bible, it is repeatedly reinforced that that true love isn’t just a feeling – it’s active and intentional service to others. Jesus himself set the ultimate example when He said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

When we serve others with genuine love, we’re following Christ’s example and fulfilling His command to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). This service can take many forms, from the seemingly small to the significantly sacrificial. As Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”

Love Into Action

Put love into action by serving others. Serving others might look like preparing a meal for someone who’s struggling, as Romans 12:13 encourages us to “share with the Lord’s people who are in need.” It could mean offering your time to listen and support someone going through difficulties, following what Paul writes in Galatians 6:2, “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

love into action Sometimes serving others means putting their needs before our own comfort or convenience. Philippians 2:3-4 instructs us to “do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” The perfect example of love into action by serving others is when Jesus washed His disciples feed in John 13. It was through humility that He served them this way and it is with humility that we can put love into action daily.

Conclusion

The important truth is that when we serve others in love, we’re not just helping them – we’re also growing closer to God. As 1 John 4:12 tells us, “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” Through our acts of service, we become living expressions of God’s love, making His presence tangible to those around us.

Remember, love isn’t just what we feel or say – it’s what we do. Put love into action as 1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
