It is an exciting time at New Life! We are MAKING ROOM. We’ve been talking about it for the past few Sundays as we’ve been looking on how we can make room for others at the nZone and New Life.

Why would we want to do this? Why do we want to make room for others?

For starters, Christ calls us to. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Secondly, it gets us thinking of others more than ourselves. The reality is we live in a selfish world which isn’t always a bad thing. After all, if we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t be any good to those around us. However, if all we do is look at ourselves and not look how you can help others, we are missing great opportunities to make the world better.   In fact, Paul calls us to look and care for others in his letter to the Philippians. “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4).

prayerSo how can you make room for others in our lives?

Pray for Others. Who are people you know that don’t know Jesus? Make a list of people and pray for them.

Pray for Opportunities. As we are praying for people in our lives, pray that God gives us the opportunity to talk to them and share about Christ with them.

Pray for God’s direction. When those opportunities arise, what are you going to do with them? It may be very scary as we may not know what to say, that is why we can be praying for God’s direction. Ask God to give you the words to say. In 1 Peter 3:15, Peter writes, “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”.

God is doing some amazing things and He can use you in a mighty way. Will you let Him?

Who are you making room for? How are you making room for others?
