Branding is a popular marketing term referring to a name, logo, slogan, and/or design scheme associated with a product or service. In fact, branding helps to distinguish a company or products from competitors, aiming to create a lasting impression in the minds of customers.

Just like companies have brands, we all have personal brands. In everything we do, we “market” ourselves in either positive or negative ways.

So what is your brand? What do you communicate about who you are and what you believe in, each and every day?

In the Bible, it talks about what we should be communicating to others. It’s not about presenting a sugar coated front, but the true love that God has for those around us. In John 13:34-35 Jesus says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

In Micah 6:8 it says, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Love others, do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. These are 4 simple things you can do on a daily basis that communicates your brand to others. What is that brand? That you are a follower of Christ. And when you communicate overwhelming positive things such as love, kindness, justice, and humility. they will see a God who is all those things and much, much more.

So what is your personal brand? What are you communicating to others about what you believe and the hope you have in Christ each and every day? A true you who lives for Christ even in the small things.

You don’t need a strategic 2 day session to determine what your brand is,but it would be good to come up with one for yourself personally and, if you have a family, what your family brand will be and is. Begin with a simple brainstorm of what you want to communicate about yourself and your family. It will help you be intentional about how you live your life and why you are living this way. The more intentional we are about our lives the more impact we can have in the life of our families and friends.

If you are looking for a good starting point, meditate on the two Bible verse above and see where God leads you.
