Reflecting and Remembering During Easter Week
March 30, 2026
Every spring, the world notices Easter. Stores fill with pastels and chocolate, families gather for big meals, and for one Sunday morning, church pews are fuller than usual. But before the celebration comes the weight — and the weight is worth sitting in.
The week of Easter is not just a lead-up to Easter Sunday. It is the most important week in human history, and the Bible invite us to walk through it slowly, day by day, and let it change us.
It begins with Jesus, the king, riding in on a donkey. “They kept shouting: ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord — the King of Israel!'” (John 12:13, CSB). The crowds waved palms and expected a revolution. They got one — just not the kind they imagined.
It moves to an upper room, where Jesus broke bread with the people He loved and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19, CSB). Before the betrayal, before the arrest, before the cross — He fed them. He served them. He loved them to the end.
It descends into a garden, where the Son of God fell on His face and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:39, CSB). This was not performance. This was real anguish — and real surrender.
And then comes Friday, the cross. The moment that split history in two. “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, CSB). Not because we deserved it. Not because we earned it. While we were still sinners.
But the grave could not hold Him. “He is not here. For he has risen, just as he said.” (Matthew 28:6, CSB)
That is the story of Easter Week. It’s not a tradition to observe — a truth to live inside of. This Easter, don’t just celebrate the resurrection. Remember the road that led there. The hosannas. The bread. The garden. The cross. And then, on Sunday morning, the empty tomb mean. Reflect and remember all aspects of Easter week and allow God’s grace, love and forgiveness impact your life and the lives of others as you share the hope found in Christ alone.
