Clarity on the Big Picture

The church is a CAUSE

Matthew 28:18-20 CSB – Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. ¹⁹ Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The church is a COMMUNITY

Ephesians 2:12, 19 CSB – At that time you were without Christ, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of promise…

So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household,

The church is a CORPORATION

Ephesians 4:11-13 CSB – And he [Jesus] himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, ¹² to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness

The Church is a CELEBRATION

Acts 20:7 CSB – On the first day of the week, we assembled to break bread. Paul spoke to them, and since he was about to depart the next day, he kept on talking until midnight.

Cause – the church is an Army

2 Timothy 2:4 CSB – No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

Community – the church is a Family

Matthew 12:46-50 CSB – While he was still speaking with the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside wanting to speak to him. ⁴⁷ Someone told him, “Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”

Community – the church is a Body
