Habakkuk 1:2-4 CSB –

How long, Lord, must I call for help
and you do not listen

and you do not save?
Why do you force me to look at injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?
Oppression and violence are right in front of me.
Strife is ongoing, and conflict escalates.
This is why the law is ineffective
and justice never emerges.
For the wicked restrict the righteous;

and what I should reply about my complaint.

The Lord answered me:

Write down this vision;

so one may easily read it.
For the vision is yet for the appointed time;
it testifies about the end and will not lie.
Though it delays, wait for it,
since it will certainly come and not be late.

v.4b – But the righteous one will live by his faith.

v.20 – But the Lord is in his holy temple;
let the whole earth
be silent in his presence.

A Glimpse into the Spiritual Warfare

 “Don’t be afraid, Daniel,” he said to me, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers. 13 But the prince [the evil angel] of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days.

Then Michael, one of the chief princes [the archangel], came to help me after I had been left there with the kings of Persia.

when he has tested me, I will emerge as pure gold.

“waiting is our destiny. as creatures who cannot by themselves bring about what they hope for; we wait in the darkness for a flame we cannot light. we wait in fear for a happy ending that we cannot write. we wait for a ‘not yet’ that feels like a ‘not ever.” – Lewis Smedes
