1 Corinthians 6:18-20 CSB – Flee sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the person who is sexually immoral sins against his own body. 19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body

Joseph’s Severe Temptation

Proverbs 6:27-29 CSB –

Can a man embrace fire
and his clothes not be burned?
28 Can a man walk on burning coals
without scorching his feet?
29 So it is with the one who sleeps with
another man’s wife;
no one who touches her will go unpunished.

15 When he heard me screaming for help, he left his garment beside me and ran outside.”

Genesis 39:16-18 CSB – She put Joseph’s garment beside her until his master came home.17 Then she told him the same story: “The Hebrew slave you brought to us came to make a fool of me, 18 but when I screamed for help, he left his garment beside me and ran outside.”

Genesis 39:19-20 CSB – When his master heard the story his wife told him—“These are the things your slave did to me”—he was furious 20 and had him thrown into prison, where the king’s prisoners were confined. So Joseph was there in prison.

Joseph’s Example for Overcoming Temptation

  • Temptation Clouds the Mind. Refocus

Genesis 39:8,9 CSB – with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put all that he owns in my charge…

There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?”

Psalm 92:1-2 CSB –

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praise to your name, Most High,
to declare your faithful love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
